Daggerboard & Case and
Rudder Post
 |
The basic construction of the
daggerboard is made from
vertical grain, kilned dry cedar. After basic shaping, areas will
be cut away and foam added in its place. This will lighten the
assembly
and allow the remainder to be reinforced with several layers of carbon
fiber before a final laminate schedule of E-glass. |
| The daggerboard is made from kiln dried
Alaskan Red Cedar.
Then, it is shaped and marked for 15 layers of laminate. Next, it
is routed to allow the tapered layers to end up flush to foil shape. |
 |
 |
The extra wood is removed from the
daggerboard to be
replaced with foam, lightening up the whole assembly. |
| Most laminates in place, the solid foam
will be added
to the bottom and shaped. The last of the 15 layers will be added. |
 |
 |
More foam is added to the bottom of the
daggerboard. |
| Half of the daggerboard case is
constructed. |
