Pedigree Cats Catamaran

About Us

Gary Habersetzer has been building multihulls since 1975 when he purchased a partially completed 32' trimaran in Seattle.  He painted her yellow, and named her the "Habersetzer" launching in 1976 with a 'how-to-sail' book in hand.  By the time he reached San Diego and cruised in Mexico for a while, he realize the boat was to small and looked at building a larger multihull.

From 1977 to 1981, Gary built several more trimarans including a 48'  Horstman, a 27'  Horstman, and a 42' Trimaran.  He also assisted on a 39' foam core multihull and and completed construction an a 42XRC Tri-Star, 28' trailerable trimaran, started hull construction on a 55' Sportfisher and 52' Cross trimaran.  He was able to start construction of a 40' Horstman Tri-Star  "Amenity" which he finished in 6 months, launched her, and headed south to Mexico.

In 1982, in Bahia de los Angeles, Gary met is lovely wife Kelly Timpson who was attending a Marine Biology course through a California community college.

In 1983, they returned to San Diego and resume yacht construction building 42' trimaran, and the 55' Sportfisher.  He also did numerous repairs on offshore fishing and trailerable boats.  Gary's reputation was growing, not only in the marine industry, but also was one of the best refinishers on the West coast and specialized in luxury cars and airplanes.  Gary also was indulging his other passion, flying.  He was hired as a corporate pilot, yacht captain, and consultant for luxury "toys" including cars and planes.

In 1989, Gary and Kelly were getting the "itch" to cruise again and started to build a 32' power catamaran for diving down in Mexico. In 1991, they were able to get back on the water cruising Baja and Pacific side of Mexico, then took their inflatable and dive tanks by motorhome to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and the Yucatan.

By 1993, they went to visit Gary's family in the Seattle area where Gary immediately resumed his work in the yacht industry.  In 1994, they were getting some pressure to start building catamaran, especially foam-core, composite constructed catamarans and other multihull and hence, the beginning of Pedigree Catamarans, Inc. in Washington.

Gary returned to his birthplace, Raymond Washington on the beautiful Willapa River to build more multihulls.

Pedigree Catamarans, Inc. builds custom catamarans for their customers.  Gary and Kelly know how important it is to help see someone's yacht dreams come true.  And being able to bring over 20,000 cruising miles to the table, they work for the yacht owners making sure every detail is followed through!
